“Empty Yourself To Serve Jesus Christ By Serving Others!”
Crises situations like the one we are faced with in the land brings out our true intentions of service to the Lord. In one village the pastor braved all odds at the risk of his life to constantly be in the forest giving hope to the internally displaced people. In another village among the internally displaced persons who were in the forest was a young christian who gathered the people and started a Christian community. As time went on he went to the pastor and asked him to come and administer the Lord’s Supper to the christians but the pastor refused to go for fear of his life. When later he heard that the people in the forest had conducted harvest thanksgiving he was quick to send an ultimatum that they should bring the money as soon as possible.
Service to Christ is through service to humanity which deserves the commendation of superiors as well as the Lord(Mtt.25:31-46). Paul wrote to the Christians in Philippi that he had no-one like Timothy “who takes a genuine interest in your welfare. For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ” (Phi.2:19-21).
My friend, Christmas carols fills the air. Christmas trees are glittering everywhere in streets and homes. Yet in all these, majority are looking for their own interests and not those of Jesus Christ.
May your goal for Christmas be to take a genuine interest in the welfare of God’s children and not to look after your own interests.
Weekend prayer: Lord increase my zeal so that I should empty myself for the welfare of your children. Amen!
