“Don’t Cry!”

“Don’t Cry!”(Lk.7:11-17).
The Lord Jesus Christ enters a town; he sees a funeral procession. It is the lone son of a widow that has died. “When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, ‘Don’t cry.'”
So saying the Lord raises the young man and gives him back to the mother. The crowd is filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us. God has come to help his people.”
Today the ministry has become what we desire and no longer what the Lord Jesus Christ stood for. Ministers of the gospel have turned into bullies, giving the impression that the flock is a money bag from which to withdraw without courtesy to the account holders. Compassion is far away from our objectives in ministry.
The text reminds us that when the Lord Jesus Christ sees us in distresses, his heart goes out to us. He feels our pains and sorrows and when we are grieving he comforts us with such words as “Don’t cry.”
Dear friend, are you grieving for the loss of a loved one, are you hurting from heartaches or a wounded heart? The heart of the compassionate Christ goes out to you with the comforting words, “Don’t cry!”
Yes, your pain or loss is momentary. The Lord may not raise your dead one, but he can bring back to life that death situation that has darkened your horizon! Be cheerful and smile at the threatening storm because the Lord Jesus Christ is in your boat.
While we who are called by his name are here, we are the ones to go for him. He has no hands but ours, he has no feet but ours, he has no mouth but ours. Let us shine his light so that the people would be filled with awe and praise God as they say, “God has come to help his people.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ help us to be like you. Let our hearts go out to those who are hurting and grieving. Amen!
