“Do Not Wage War As The World Does!”(II Cor.10:1-6).
“For though we live in this world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ…”
An important rule of nonviolence is not to fight the enemy on his terms. May be “sometimes you don’t have to fight to be a man.” But sometimes we have no choice than to fight. When we run until we have our face on the wall, the only option left is to turn and face the adversary. Even so, do not use his choice of weapons. Believers should not use the weapons of the world to fight back. Turning to face the enemy is not to fight back; it is to calculate his moves and dodge his advances until you tire him out.
It is God who fights his battles, not us!
We have noted how for some years now some people have in every public pronouncement fought those who use the social media. Turning the fight on the social media was ironically a war on their own very selves as they never tire using the social media.
Just like our home boys, they have been “winning bigly!” Since the king’s dog is the king of dogs, even mice want to belong to the king so that they too can become kingly mice. The mice and the cats are now pretensiously good “amigos.” But what happens when the umbrella that covers them and allow such fraternities collapses? Oh yes, authority forsakes all dying kings and we all go back to the Styrofoam cup!
Dear friend, our weapons should not be the weapons of the world. We should use weapons that have divine power to demolish strongholds; demolishing every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God.
The best part of it, “we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” This reminds me; when I was growing up in the village I used to see written on some people’s door post: SMOG. When I sought to know I was told it means “Satan Must Obey God.”
Yea, at the mention of the name of Jesus every knee must bow and every tongue confess that “Jesus is Lord!”
Indeed; when God shall judge between nations and settle disputes for many peoples, he will not destroy their weapons of war. On the contrary, “They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore “(Is.2:4).
There are wars that can be avoided and people still come out victorious if we concentrate on “the force of the argument and not the argument of force.”
We are winners and overcomers when we “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
We are called upon not to live according to the standards of this world. Let them say we are timid and are cowards; it doesn’t show on our skin.
We survive because our weapons have power and is destroying all devilish strongholds, making captives of thoughts that derail the gullible, and submitting such thoughts to Christ!
Prayer: Holy Spirit equip me with the spiritual weapons that have divine power to make evil thoughts obedient to Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
