“Do Not Try To Arouse The Lord’s Jealousy!”
The other day as I was browsing through TV channels I paused at a channel that was talking about the benefits of a popular esoteric fraternity. It was giving the many advantages enjoyed by members. If you want wealth, fame, power, popularity, whatever you want, so as to be on top of the world, they are there to offer. Then it went further to mention the classes of people who are members and proudly mentions not only Christians of high standing, but top clergies as well. It is not a religion; it embraces members from all religions. Blood sacrifices are not required.
One thing is clear: the devil does not offer any free lunch. And whatever he gives you with his right hand, the left hand is already stretched out to get it back.
We may begin to question why young artists rise overnight but meet with disastrous ends “overday!”
The world is saturated with many such fraternities. Within the continent many secret societies abound with similar demonic alters.
Coming out of the background of idolatory it is often difficult to know where to draw the line between what is our indigenous culture and what is religious within that culture. More difficult is being able to determine what is Antichrist in any culture.
An idol is man-made and cannot be equated to God who created the object that is used in making the idol.
But God is jealous when those who worship him also worship idols. Worshipping an idol side by side worshipping God is to say they all have something to offer.
Worship that is not directed to God is directed to demons. That makes idol worship demon worship.
Christians cannot share in the spiritual meal of Holy Communion and run to share in the sacrifices offered to demons.
The advice of Paul to us: “I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.”
Dear friend, choose where you belong and be honest about it! The LORD our God is a jealous God who tolerates no rivals(Ex.20:5b).
The body and blood of Christ satisfies our spiritual hunger, and provides rest for our restless souls. There is therefore no reason why we should be enticed and become victims to the temporary assurances promised by demonic alters!
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for being the only spiritual food and drink that saves. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
