“Do Not Love The World…!”(I Jn. 2:12-17).
In his letter to Timothy Paul states, “For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it”(I Tim.6:7). To remind ourselves of this words does not mean a discouragement of progress. God has made us stewards of all the others of his creation. As such, he expects us to leave a place better than we met it.
But when trying to make the place better than we met it becomes an obsession, especially when our pursuits is self-aggrandizement, it becomes a disservice to God.
We should make the best out of life with the fear of God with no wilful intention to hurt anybody.
Whatever we do while in this life should not be to satisfy our ego, for that makes us boastful. We should not only do it because it would be to our benefit.
John cautions both the young and the old, “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of the eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and it’s desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”
Dear friend, whatever we do, let us prayerfully seek to know if it is in the will of God. God has forgiven our sins in the name of Jesus Christ so that we can do his will.
Prayer: LORD lead me away from the love of the world and lead me to do your will in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
