“Do Not Be Afraid…Fear Not!”
What comes to my mind today is the story of this little boy on America’s Got Talent who performs acrobatic feats with his dad. One of the judges asked whether he was not afraid that one day something bad could happen to him? He simply replied with confidence that he was with his dad and he knew his dad would not allow anything bad to happen to him.
Our parents love(d) us just as much as we love our children. This does not mean that we won’t pass through hard times and stormy days. What is important is that as long as we have that blood relationship which binds us together, parents cannot intentionally allow anything bad to happen to their offspring.
Such a blood bond that binds us together to our parents and our offspring is the same kind of bond which binds us together with God when we are in a covenant relationship with him through baptism in the Lord Jesus Christ.
More than one hundred times the Bible assures those who have been called by God’s name, “Fear not;” “Do not fear;” “Do not be afraid.”
My friend, as you sail through the ocean of life you are bound to experience the storms of hard times, tough times, risky moments and indescribable discomforts which can lead you to drown in despondency. It is at such moments that the Lord assures you, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine…I am the Lord your God…Do not be afraid, for I am with you…” (Is.43:1-7).
Oh yes! God did not say we are not to experience raging storms. The storms will rage, but with Christ in your boat just smile over the storms!
Do not be afraid if you are in a covenant relationship with God through baptism into Christ Jesus. God is watching your back always!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for the assurance of your continuous presence even in difficult moments of my life. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
