“Do Not Be Afraid…!”
Today I bring to you two illustrative stories. There is a picture trending on social media of a child a little above one year rescued by soldiers in Sambisa forest. Surely it can only be God!
Story 2: I had the scariest of days yesterday. Myself and my children went and slept in Bali on Sunday. Very early on Monday morning we left for the farm. We had planned to spend the night in Bali and leave for Bamenda on Tuesday. But then we started hearing gossips that ghost towns will begin today Tuesday till…
By 5.30 pm we decided to brave it back to Bamenda. Our first shock was that at a mixed control point in Bali I was told by an officer that he can kill me right there for driving on a ghost town day. I tried to explain myself to him but he wouldn’t listen. Another one came who listened to my story understandingly. He told me to go, after telling me it was risky. He advised that I should never again take such a risk. But the other one was still spitting fire telling me that it was my lucky day.
The scariest part of it was driving across Bamenda town to up station and meeting with only one coward like myself on station hill driving down town. Soon after him, we saw two bikes also descending into town.
In fact, I’ve never known the gravity of a ghosted Monday until yesterday. Apart from pocket-full of people here and there trekking to their destinations, the town was verily ghosted. This is where we are! And we cannot explain how we got here! Worst of it we seem not to be interested in getting out of here! But we know God will see us through to the end.
These stories are illustrations of having absolute confidence and trust in the One who watches our backs! In the text of today (Is.44:1-8), the Lord says, “Do not be afraid…I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God…I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants… Do not tremble, do not be afraid… Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock, I know not one.”
Yes, there is no other rock on which we stand than the Rock of ages who goes before us and walks behind us when we have absolute trust in him!
“On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand!” More than this, there is hope for our offspring, who like us will say, “I belong to the Lord…”
Prayer: Thank Lord for the gift of the Holy Spirit who enables me to put my trust in you alone. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
