“Dispel The Doubts In Your Minds!”(Lk.24:36-49).
The two who returned from Emmaus to tell the rest that they had seen the risen Christ were still narrating the story when Christ appeared to all of them. He said to them, “Peace be with you.”
“They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.” Christ assured them that he was not a ghost.
Christ wondered why they were troubled and doubts was rising in their minds. He reminded them that he had told them that “everything must be fulfilled that” was “written about” him “in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
“Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” He told them, “This is what is written: ‘The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations…You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised…'”
The human response to what Jesus went through to become the Christ is repentance, and the resulting benefit is forgiveness and empowerment with the Holy Spirit.
In our time, there we are still startled and frightened of the possibility of a resurrected Christ. Doubts still rise in the minds of some, and we fall short of full understanding of what was written about the Christ. The good news is that when this happens, the Christ of faith is there to open our minds so that we can understand the Scriptures. Besides, the promised Holy Spirit is already with us comforting and counselling us and leading us into all truths. We are either in, or we are out; there is no sitting on the fence!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, like in the days of old, open our minds that we can understand the Scriptures. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
