“Dead To Sin; Alive To God In Christ Jesus!”(Rom.6:9-11).
Dearly beloved, it’s a new day. We don’t take it for granted being among those who have seen the light of the new day. God’s grace is still sufficient for us.
Each new day comes with fresh opportunities. We who are in Christ are new creations. The past of sin has been buried when Christ died.
All things being equal, we now approach the throne of grace spotless and without blemish.
Paul sees our present condition of grace this way: “For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he can not die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
Paul was aware that human frailty could still lead us to presumptuous sin. Sufficient grace does not suppose that we sin more so as to be forgiven more. Being dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus is to depend on the Holy Spirit to enable us see and do daily what is right in God’s eyes. But if we unwittingly succumb to our will, Christ Jesus is there before the throne of grace to be our advocate.
We can only be alive to God in Christ Jesus and not by works.
May the Holy Spirit guide and enable us to see and do only what is acceptable in the sight of the LORD.
Werkend prayer: Holy Spirit, help us daily to walk the route of our new life before God in Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
