“Consistent And Persistent Prayer II!”(Lk.11:9-13)
Bands of soldiers have died because on the eve of victory they sat down to rest. And while resting they were overpowered by the enemy. Consistency and persistence are invaluable ingredients of perseverance.
So the Lord Jesus Christ says to us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
We humans are evil, yet we know how to give good gifts to our children, “how much more will our Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
The Holy Spirit is all we need to become possessors of all other things. The Holy Spirit gives us gifts uncountable and bears fruits of worthy living as proof that we are citizens of heaven enjoying a pilgrim land as worthy guests.
Bottom line: Our Father in heaven is ready to respond to us when we ask, seek or knock. When we make the right request, we are given.
“Winner takes it all” applies to all of us. Whoever asks for and receives the Holy Spirit is given all other things. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all others will be added on to it.
Ask, seek and knock. The prophet Isaiah puts it this way: “…You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes” you and makes you the praise of the earth(Is.62:6b-7).
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me to make the right request, to seek at the right places for what is commendable and to knock on the right doors. Amen!
