“COMMIT Your Cause To The LORD!”(Jer.11:18-20).
I’m not saying that is what happened, but it seems to me it is today’s pericope that inspired Bob Marley with the lyrics of “Who the Cap fits.” “Man to man is so unjust, children. You don’t know who to trust. Your worst enemy could be your best friend. And your best friend, your worst enemy. Some will eat and drink with you…Only your friend knows your secrets. So only he could reveal them…Some will hate you, pretend they love you now. Then, behind, they try to eliminate you. But who Jah bless, no one curse. Thank God we’re past the worse. Hypocrites and parasites…”
Yes, who Jah bless no one curse! There is a social distance between you and your enemy, which is to your advantage.
“It’s not the stab in the back that kills you. It’s when you turn around and see who’s holding the knife.”
You naively mingle with the coup plotters, not knowing that you are “like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter.” You do not realise that they had plotted against you saying, “Let us destroy the tree and its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.”
This was especially so with Jeremiah since the LORD told him, “You must not marry and have sons and daughters in this place”(Jer.16:2f).
However, one with God is the majority! The LORD reveals the plot of the coup plotters to his chosen ones. The LORD shows you the evil they are planning against you in secret places. The secret covens to which they carry your name catch fire because the LORD has engraved your name on the palm of his hand.
My friend, the LORD Almighty, judges righteously and tests the heart and mind. Commit your cause to him. Vengeance is of the LORD! The evil plans of the enemy cannot prevail against you unless the LORD wills it.
The Lord Jesus Christ was such a lamb that was led to the slaughter, but it must be according to God’s time.
Rejoice that you are sealed by the blood of the Lamb!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, walk with me daily and divert my path away from the snares of the enemy. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
