Come To The Lord, He Longs To Be Gracious To You!”
The worst that can pull you down the ravine of despair is when you think, “But I have been believing and trusting in this God, why is it that I seem not to receive any positive response from him?” Of course, you have been eating everyday from the day you were born, why is it that you continue to eat till date?
Imagine what was going through Joseph’s mind when his own brothers threw him into a pit; when they removed him and sold him to merchants going down to Egypt; when he became a slave in Portifer’s house; when he thought all was going well as a slave Portifer’s wife started seducing him and finally framed him; imagine how he felt when he was wrongfully thrown into jail! He must have questioned, “Lord, what became of my dream?”
In life we are bound to pass through some difficult times either because God is allowing us to our follies or because he is grooming us for something immeasurable.
You surely don’t expect to eat omollete if you do not want to break the egg! God did not say rain would not get you unawares, that is why he gave man the ingenuity to make an umbrella.
God is pained by our follies and he longs to be gracious to us; he rises to show us compassion. “For the Lord is a God of justice.” Those who wait for him are blessed. To those who trust in the Lord, weeping may linger for the night but joy comes in the morning. “Although the Lord gives the bread of adversity and the water of affliction,” he will make sure that all things work for good if your trust is in him.
God has given us the Counselor who when we turn to the left or to the right whispers in our ears, “This is the way; walk in it.”
We may have desecrated God’s holy sanctuary with our idols – we all have something we idolize- but the Lord longs to see us defile those idols and say to them, “Away with you!”
How gracious our God is when we cry for help! (Is.30:18-22).
My friend, do away with the idols that keep you away from God. God has never stopped loving you anyway. That is why no matter how bad it is you still have God’s oxygen for free! You cannot intentionally sit in a dark room and complain that the sunshine outside does not reach you! Go for it! Blessed are those who wait for the Lord!
Prayer: Lord thank you that each time I stray from the way, you remind me, “this is the way, walk in it.” Amen!
