“Come To Christ And Drink From The Fountain Of Life!”
From time immemorial water is life. When God planted a garden by the east of Eden, he made sure there was “a river watering the garden…”(Gen.2:10-12).
Water scarcity for their livestock was one of the reasons why Abraham and Lot had to part company. Even today water is so important, especially potable water. A government is at her worst if she cannot provide potable water to her citizens.
Little wonder that the exodus people had to quarrel with Moses when after travelling from place to place they had no water to drink. “…They quarelled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” They didn’t know that quarelling with Moses was putting the Lord to the test.
Alas, the myopic nature of humanity! Just because they were thirsty, they grumbled against Moses, saying, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”
Moses cried to the Lord and God caused him to strike a rock with his staff. Moses did as ordered and the people had water to drink (Ex.17:1-7).
My friend, there is nothing impossible with God. The Lord who brings you out to journey through waterless terrain will always provide water when you are thirsty. Do not put the Lord to the test because of mere water to drink; or any trifle. “Do not undermine the great things God is doing for you just because you lack a little something at a particular point in time!
By the way, the water we drink to quench our thirst is physical and momentary. There is somebody standing right by you; if you know him you would ask him and he will give you living water. Come to Jesus and drink the water he offers and you will never thirst. The water Christ gives “will become in you a spring of living water welling up to eternal life (cf. Jn.4:10-14).
Prayer: Holy Spirit, keep me drinking from the water Christ offers. Let it be in me a spring welling up to eternal life. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
