“Come, Let Us Return To The LORD!”(Hos.5:15-6:3).
“…I will go back to my place until they admit their guilt. And they will seek my face; in their misery they will earnestly seek me.”
When disloyalty to the LORD, when sin has become a way of life acceptable as the norm and when evil is defined as good, God becomes uncomfortable being “Immanuel!” He threatens to abandon us as a people, until, out of desperation, we truly repent.
God wants us to see our follies and come to that moment where we decide and say, “Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds… he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.”
Remember: He just went back to his place, but when we acknowledge him then “he will appear; he will come to us…”
We do not return to him by being Christians who fulfill all denominational requirements. The LORD desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings”(6:6).
Let us come to the LORD as God-fearing, obedient and loyal disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ who himself was injured, wounded but was revived and on the third day was restored.
In the same way that his humiliation, torture and death was temporary, so too can our woes be short-lived – if only we return to the LORD in sincerity and truth.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help us to make a U-turn to the LORD, the Author and Finisher of our faith and our fate. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
