“Christ, The Mediator Of The New Covenant…!”(Heb.9:15-22).
I recall in passing the blood pact which Fon Galega sealed with Eugene Zintgraff, the first Caucasian to the grassfield regions of the Kameruns. There is power in blood and exceeding power in the blood of the Lamb of God. God told the Israelites, “You must not eat the blood of any creature, because the life of any creature is in its blood…”(Lev.17:14). Some have used this verse to back their rejection of blood transfusion. By mentioning this we are not being judgmental. We all are like the six blind men of Hindustan. Each person is satisfied that the elephant is like the part of the elephant he touched.
While we are commanded not to eat the blood of any creature, blood is so important in maintaining humanity’s relationship with God. It was the blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes that saved the children of Israel on the eve of the exodus. The Lord said, “I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn…The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt”(Ex.12:7&13).
On the day the covenant was confirmed, Moses took some blood of the sacrificed bulls, half of which he sprinkled on the alter. He read the Book of the Covenant to the people and they responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.” Moses then sprinkled the blood on the people saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you…”(Ex.24:1-8).
It is in the same way that the blood of Jesus Christ is the blood of the new covenant poured out for many for the forgiveness of their sins. This is because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
Dear friend, the Lord Jesus Christ has mediated for us with his blood. As a result of this, no destructive plague will touch us! May our faith look up to him, the Lamb of Calvary, our Saviour Divine.
Prayer: We exalt you Lord Jesus Christ for shedding your blood that we should receive forgiveness for sins. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
