“Christ Is Above All Else; Exalt Him Only!”

“Christ Is Above All Else; Exalt Him Only!” (Col.1:15-20).
The body of Christ, the church of today in the continent is plagued with the kind of “heresy” that prevailed in the Colossian church. To counter the heresy Paul had this to say of Christ: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation…”
In the Christian context heresy is opinion or belief that is against Christian doctrine. Whatever we teach or practice which denies the Lordship of Christ is heresy. Whatever we teach or practice which does not exalt Christ above all else is heresy.
Nobody has seen God but as the scripture points out, it is only the Son who is from the Father who has seen the Sovereign Lord. “He is the image of the invisible God…” Anything you want God to do for you can be done only through him.
Recently I read that a constituency somewhere in the continent was asking their eighty year + parliamentarian to stand for the next election. That sounds like deifying the person. We have read bizarre stories of churchmen going to receive magical powers from witchdoctors so as to perform miracles and be hailed as powerful men of God. We have read about both laity and clergies belonging to esoteric fraternites so as to become powerful and invincible in God’s service. We have seen church leaders who are worshipped as deities. All these are heresies that deny the Supremacy of Christ.
The power from Christ is superior to any other. “For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him…he is the head of the body, the church…”
May be the worst heresy of all times is this tolerance of freedom of religion and worship! While there is nothing wrong about it for those who are perishing, everything is wrong about it with the Christians who do not only tolerate but mix up religions and get lost in the quagmire of confusion!
Christ is Superior and if you have Christ in you, nothing can tempt you to go after anything else; for all other things are inferior to Christ.
In everything Christ has the supremacy and through his blood God has reconciled all things to himself.
My friend, Christ is the only solid rock on which to stand; all other powers are sinking sand! Therefore, stop chasing the shadow and go the the substance, which is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I exalt you above all others for everything was created by you and for you. Amen!
