“Build Yourself Up In Holiness As You Wait For God’s Mercy!”
Like we said earlier on this week, false teachings did not begin yesterday, and is it going to end tomorrow. But inbetween we have an unbounden duty to say, “Caveat Emptor” – let the buyer beware!k
In my village there are some women who are noted for handling expensive dishes and flasks to funeral ceremonies, but the contents leave very little to be desired. “Not all that glitters is gold!”
We cannot be judgmental, because God is capable of defending what belongs to him. Yet the wise cannot fold their hands and watch how God’s people perish for lack of knowledge.
Jude, a one chapter writer reminds us today:
- Build yourselves in your most holy faith.
- Pray in the Holy Spirit.
3.keep yourselves in God’s love as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. - Be merciful to those who doubt.
- Snatch others from the fire and save them.
- To others show mercy combined with fear.
My friend, in all these there a is God who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy…”(Jude:20-25).
This is is say to be holy (a saint) before God is more through his mercy than by human merit. And what we receive we must pass on in the same measure.
In Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice”, Portia reminded Shylock, that though justice was his plea, there was need for the Jew to be merciful for none of us would gain salvation without the mercy of God! Therefore, be merciful for God has demonstrated his mercy upon you through Jesus Christ! Show mercy to others for without mercy you are nothing before God!
Weekend prayer: Thank you Lord for saving me through mercy. Let that be a lesson that i should be merciful towards others. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
