“Bring One Soul To Christ Today!”
There is a story that Isaac Newton was to have lunch with a friend. At lunchtime the friend came to the dinning room. The lunch was set. He waited for some time but Newton did not show up. He guessed Newton was absorbed in some experiment. He decided to play a fast one on his friend. He ate all the food, gathered the bones, covered them in the dish and left.
Newton later came to the dinning, opened the dish and there was no food. He thought that he must have eaten but forgot that he had eaten. He went and continued with his work satisfied that he had eaten.
When there is a task at hand that must be accomplished for the service of humanity one has to forget about satisfying physical hunger.
Jesus arrived a Samarian town. He was tired from a long journey. He sat at Jacob’s well. His disciples went to town to buy food. While they were there Jesus busied himself winning a soul for the kingdom.
The disciples returned with food. But when they urged him to eat,. He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about. My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish the work…”
By this Jesus is setting the example for us to emulate. There is a sense in which when you are engaged in a task that would benefit humanity and nourish their souls, hunger for physical food dissipates. Your passion and zeal to accomplish the task becomes nourishment.
There is a sense of fulfilment at the accomplishment of a God-given assignment that brings succour to his children. Believe me even today “open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” The evil that is engulfing us daily is proof that each one of us have an urgent harvesting assignment.
We must of necessity be one another’s keeper, correcting, rebuking, exhorting and chastising each the other when there is wrongdoing. At the same time we should of necessity encourage, motivate, guide and direct one another where we are doing what brings others to the kingdom.
We are not to take credit for anything we do because we are only building on the foundations laid by others. We are sent to reap what others sowed (Jn.4:31-38).
Prayer: Holy Spirit encourage me in the reapers’ band to harvest a soul for the kingdom today through my words and actions. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
