“Believe The Words Of Jesus Christ, Make An Effort To Obtain The Praise Of God Alone!”
“I do not accept praise from men, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts” (Jn.5:41-47). What an indictment coming from our Lord! Many of us who profess the fairh will make fun of these words of Jesus; or we may have made it already. All Christians as messengers that we are, have often received the accolades for ourselves rather than in humility direct the praises to who it rightfully belongs – the Lord Jesus Christ.
We take pleasure in accepting “praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God.” Since we delight in accepting praise from one another, we would rather believe somebody who comes in his own name.
Jesus who knows the thoughts and desires of every heart says, “I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts.” If that is so, we cannot love our brothers because “…anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God” (I Jn.4:20).
It is very glaring! Action they say speaks louder than words. The way we treat others reveals the true self within; whether we have the love of God in our hearts or not.
When the love of God is not in our hearts we “will” demand the praise of men but “make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God.”
My friend, we all know Jesus Christ and profess him, but whether you and I have the love of God in our hearts is known by you/I and him alone. However, the way we treat others outwardly portrays whether we love God in our hearts!
Shun the praise of men and make every effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God so that you do not stand accused before the Father.
Prayer: Holy Spirit instill the love of God in my heart and to make an effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God. Amen!
