“Be Wise And You Will Die At God’s Appointed Time!”
Paul did not exaggerate to say “Christ is our wisdom.” He is not our wisdom simply because of his salvific role which replaced the wisdom of Greek philosophy but because in daily life he continues to teach us to wait for God’s appointed time of our deaths.
In the text of today Jesus teaches us not to give ourselves over to our enemies when it is not yet in God’s time. Jesus made some blunt testimonies about himself and this did not go down well with his adversaries. They were so angered that “they picked up stones to stone him, but he hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds”(Jn.8:46-59).
My friend, the temple grounds (church) is holy ground and a place of security. But it is also a place of danger where your life may be at greater risk.
One lesson from Jesus today is that do not allow the enemy to get at you when it’s not yet the opportuned moment. Stop saying “The Lord is in control!” There is a time you must like Jesus hide and slip away from the people who want to stone you within the precincts of holy ground!
Weekend prayer: Lord teach me like Jesus to hide away from my adversaries until it is your appointed time for me to die. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
