“Be Tolerant Of The Point Of View Of Others!”
When you stand facing each other and read the figures 69 and 96 you get the same results. That is sixty-nine and ninety-six respectively. The same will not happen for the figures 6 and 9. For you 6 is 6, but for the person facing you 6 is 9, meanwhile for you 9 is 9 but for the person facing you 9 is 6.
So therefore: “The fact that you are right does not mean that I am wrong.” The writer of Romans makes it clearer: “Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.”
Schisms in the body of Christ is generated mostly by the so-called strong treating the weak in faith like thrash as they pass judgment on disputable matters!
When a matter is disputable it means “it is not established as a fact, and so open to question or debate.”
Christians often spend time arguing, disagreeing and dividing over inconsequential matters of practice that has nothing to do with the wellbeing or salvation of any individual.
“One man’s faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.”
None of us has the moral high ground to judge the other. “To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.”
In everything we do, whether to observe or not to observe a certain day, whether to eat or not to eat everything, “each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” in what he does or eat as he “does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God” (Rom.14:1-6).
Sometimes we remain arguing over who should handle the stick until the snake we wanted to kill slides away.
While the others respected the law of the Sabbath Jesus asked them whether it was lawful to do good on the Sabbath or not?(Lk.14:1-6).
What God wants from you and I is to “…let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never failing stream.” God hates and even despises our religious festivals and assemblies if there is no justice and righteousness (Am.5:21-24).
Note that righteous judgment is not objected, what is rejected is “passing judgment over disputable matters!” Rather, let the strong in faith tolerate the weak in faith, because we are all weak in faith and we are all strong in faith!
Sunday prayer: Lord keep building my faith to be tolerant of others and to be concerned about justice and righteousness. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
