“Be Open To The Prompting Of The Holy Spirit!”
Jesus went to his home town and on the Sabbath “he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.”
One would have expected their amazement to spur them to repentance and conversion. Unfortunately, listen to what they said and did: “Where did this man get these things? What’s this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph…”
Just because they knew Jesus inside-out; or so they thought, “…they took offense at him.” Then Jesus said what most of us experience today, “Only in his home town, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honour.”(Mk. 6:1-6).
Even Jesus’ “own brothers did not believe in him”(Jn. 7:5).
Due to the nonchalance of his people, “he could not to do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them…”
It appears Jesus was dissappointed! But who wouldn’t! Mark ends the story by implying that disappointment. “And he was amazed at their lack of faith.”
My friend, for one reason or the other people would take offense at the gospel message; this is especially true of those who know you! Do not feel bad about their rejection! Only make them know that God often decide to store precious jewels of great value in earthen vessels! That’s why it is said that “God works in mysterious ways!”
God speaks to us even through little babies at home! Just be open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and God will make you an instrument of his word, love, peace and justice!
Prayer: Use me Lord, use even me! Holy Spirit convict the souls that listen to your word and prompt a positive response in them, in Jesus’ name! Amen!
Have a blessed! Peace be with you!
