“Be On Your Guard, Stand Firm Till The End And Be Saved!”
Some few months back social media was awash with a fake Jesus dancing in Church in Nairobi. The Kenyan government did not take this lying down as they took action and deported him back to America. He had been invited from America by a Kenyan prophet to come and fake himself as Jesus Christ!
Jesus says, “watch out that no-one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many…” Even wars and rumours of wars are not signs of endtime. Even when natuaral disasters occur, all such things “…are the beginning of birth-pains. You must be on your guard.” Persecutions are bound to happen to those who testify to the truth of the gospel.
When there is a social, economic and political crises in the land, underlying it is a spiritual crisis! Witnesses for Christ have to stand before governors and kings and witness to them, for “the gospel must first be preached to all nations.”
We have this assurance from Christ that while on trial for the faith we shouldn’t “worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.”
Discipleship for Christ attracts enemies, “but he who stands firm to the end will be saved”(Mk.13:5-13).
Dear friend, from out of this very rich text we have these as take home:
- “Watch out that no-one deceives you.” We are surrounded by charlatans who peddle the word of God for profit!
- “You must be on your guard.” It is never going to be a bed of roses testifying for Christ.
- The Holy Spirit is there to speak for you!
- And lastly, though you’ll be hated, if you stand firm to the end, you shall be saved!
Prayer: Holy Spirit speak for me in the face of persecution and enable me to watch out and be on guard so that I can stand firm to the end and be saved. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
