“Be Concerned With What Counts!”(Gal.6:14-18).
The Galatians were a real pain to Paul – especially concerning the issue of circumcision. While concluding his letter Paul told them, “From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. “
The teachers who took delight in outward display of faith wanted to “impress people by means of the flesh” by compelling circumcision.
They themselves who were circumcised did not keep the law, but they wanted others to be circumcised so that they could boast.
Like Paul, may we never boast except in the cross of Christ, through which the world has been crucified to us; and we to the world. “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what matters is the new creation.”
Bottom line dear friend: Do not excercise your faith in order to impress people so that you can boast! Do not boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to you, and you to the world. What counts is being a new creation. Peace and mercy is ours when we follow this rule.
Oh yes! Being a new creation in Christ is what counts.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit help me to pursue only that which matters; a new creation in Christ Jesus. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
