“Be Careful… Be Always On The Watch, And Pray…!”
I share with you the story of how my people of Bali Nyonga interpreted the eclipse of 1947. My informat told me that after the incident many people who mocked at Christianity thronged the church houses. Believers who had a hazy understanding of the signs before the end were convinced that endtime was very much at hand.
From the inception of Christianity and cutting across generations, strange occurrence have led the people of the clime and time to the conviction that the signs of Christ’s second coming was imminent in their time.
The year 2020 is one such year in which some Christians are convinced that endtime is here with us. The COVID-19 pandemic is still claiming more lives. The death toll is rising. An American projection suggests that by February 2021 about 450000 Americans would die of COVID-19. Isn’t that scary!
Medical experts are working out their lives to see how the disease can be contained. In the meantime from Christian circles comes the challenge of the beast ushering endtime.
Ironically most of us who believe that this is the sign of the end still go about our businesses as usual.
When the early believers were convinced that Christ was returning soon, they sold their properties to fools and enjoyed the proceeds in fellowship.
Jesus says, “when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.” The challenge we face is, “how near is near?”
Being ignorant of how near is near should humble us and cause each one of us to live this day as if it were our last.
The word like time is eternal too. Jesus says, “I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away”(Lk.21:25-33).
So what do we do? “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap… Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man “(Lk.21:34-36).
Key words: Be careful, Watch and prsy!
Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me to watch and pray so that I will be able to stand before the Son of Man. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
“God’s Love!”
