“Be A Wheat That Survives Amongst Weeds!”
It is usually said, “winner takes it all, but we have situations where right is determined by “nobody should have anything.” Take it that Ndangoh has a land dispute with Ndansi. During the farming season Ndansi farms and plants maize on the disputed piece of land. Ndangoh comes and plants his own maize on the cultivated piece. The crops harvested therefrom will go to the “Ngumba.” It will be wasted labour for both, but more on the part of Ndansi. Even if Ndangoh is the rightful owner, his action of double planting is a wicked act because he does so like the woman who would prefer King Solomon to divide the living child.
This may not be an apt analogy but I’m simply trying to reason out from my cultural context what it means for the kingdom of heaven being “like a man who sowed good seed in his feild. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came abd sowed weeds among the wheat…” It may sound strange, but we are familiar with stories of married mates, friends and even siblings adding salt or pepper to an already salted or peppered pot of sauce, just so that one person should be discredited while the other receives unjustified praises! Evil comes in many shades through the agents of the devil!
Friends today become enemies tomorrow to the point where some will shamelessly, intentionally destroy the future of others. Unfortunately stuffing out another person’s candle does not make your own to shine any better!
Most often, like the monkeys we learn only later that the hunter whose death we rejoiced over is the farmer who was always cultivating the maize that sustained us.
As humanbeings proned to vengeance, if we had our way we would decree for rain or sunshine to skip over the plots of our enemies and those we envy.
However, God who owns us all teaches us his patience in dealing with the devil and his minions. The Son of Man has sown good seeds in the world – sons and daughters of the kingdom. “The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and harvesters are the angels…”
At harvest time “the Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil…”
The goodnews is that those who are wheat are the rigtheous who “will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father”(Mt.13:24-30&36-43).
Dear friend, as you prepare to welcome Christ, stand firm amidst the tribulations and hold fast to the faith that saves. As a wheat weave your way through the weeds to receive the fresh sunshine that gives you growth.
Sunday prayer: Dear Lord enable us wheat to be tolerant of the weeds around us till harvest time. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
