“Be A One Man Squad Prayer Warrior!”(Dan.9:5-14).
It’s another new day for which we give thanks to God, whose mercy endures forever.
Today’s text is part of Daniel’s prayer of confession on behalf of his exiled people and the desolation of Jerusalem. Daniel was himself one of the exiles who found favour with their masters.
It was in the first year when Darius the Mede was made the Babylonian ruler that Daniel understood from the prophecies of Jeremiah that the exile will last seventy years.
Daniel “turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.” He prayed to the Lord God and confessed on behalf of his people.
The exile actually lasted for fifty eight years, which is twelve years shorter than mentioned in Jeremiah’s prophecy. Isn’t it likely that the Lord God heard and answered Daniel’s prayer? Surely it is. When there is a wo/man to pray, there is a God to answer.
Daniel’s prayer of confession for his people includes acknowledging the awesomeness, truthfulness, faithfulness, and righteousness of God. Daniel’s prayer follows steps to repentance which includes the recognition of one’s wrongdoings, followed by genuine remorse for the wrongdoings, confessing the sins to God and asking for his forgiveness and taking a resolution to change and follow God by looking up to Christ and believing in him as your personal Lord and Savior.
Daniel is “a one man squad” yet powerful enough to conquer a battalion.
We know such one man squads are found in many homes and places. We can only encourage us to pray for our failing country the way Daniel prayed.
Do not underestimate yourself or your prayer. And when you pray, remember this: “O Lord, we do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! Fir your sake O my God, do not delay,” because we bear your name. Amen!
My friend, one may ask, have we not prayed enough? Yes, we have prayed enough, dressed in our best regalias and accoutrements. Such fineries show the lack of internal remorse.
When you turn to the Lord, plead with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
