“Be A New Creation In Christ!”
It was customary that before the Passover meal was to be prepared people had to sweep the house thoroughly to ensure that no particle of yeast was present anywhere in the house. They then had to bake bread without yeast which was eaten together with roasted meat and bitter herbs (Cf. Ex.12:8&15). It is probably from this that yeast is used in Scriptures to symbolize evil or sin. Jesus warned the disciples, “Be careful. Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod”(Mk.8:15).
Seeing that the Corinthians were living in a comfortable condition of sexual immorality and other sins, Paul asked them to get rid of the old yeast.
Christ Jesus has become the true Passover lamb that has been sacrificed. Easter is therefore a celebration of newness; transformation and rejuvenation. Christian holiness and discipline requires us to now live in holy dedication to God and not getting involved in such sins as malice, wickedness and incestious relations.
Sincerity and truth should be core values to guide us (I Cor.5:6-8).
Therefore my friend, to become new creations in Christ is for us to get rid of the old yeast of malice and wickedness and be immersed in the new bread without yeast; the bread of sincerity and truth!
Prayer: Holy Spirit pull me away from the old paths of malice and wickedness. Keep me on the route of sincerity and truth. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
