“All These In The Will Of The Father!”(Jn.19:31-37&Mt.27:57-66&I Pt.3:18-22).
One musician sings prophetically that “Even in the grave Jesus is Lord.” It is more! Even on the cross and dead Jesus is still Lord!
It is Saturday. Jesus is still on the cross. According to John, while on the cross and dead, old prophecies are still being fulfilled to prove that he is the Son of God. The bones of his legs are not broken as it was customary to do to dead people on the cross. Instead one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear and blood and water flowed mingled. These two incidents happened in fulfilment of the scriptures, “Not one of his bones will be broken”(Ex.12:46, Num.9:12& Ps.34:20). And the prophecy that “They will look on the one they have pierced”(Zec.12:10).
It is strange that even a dead Jesus still frightened his killers! The chief priests and the Pharisees pleaded with Pilate to order that guards should be placed at the tomb to guard the tomb lest Jesus’ disciples steal the body and claim that he had been raised from the dead. According to them “This last deception will be worst than the first.” The first deception was that he was the Messaiah and the last will be that he has risen as the Son of God!
How foolish were they not to know that dead and the grave could not hold him captive!
Guarding the tomb to disprove the resurrection was a delusion and was a worst deception than the first that refuted Jesus was as the Messaiah! Even today, all the arguments that challenge the Messianic claim of Jesus and his resurrection are full of loopholes and stand on sinking sand!
John writes, “The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.”
I believe him! If you do not believe him, what is your testimony? I believe it that “Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit…” And now he “has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand – with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.”
As it is, angels, authorities and powers are in submission to him, so who am I not to cuddle the cross that saves!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I give you all the glory because you have destroyed death that frightens and scares. Amen!
Have a blessed Saturday! Peace be with you!
