“A Time When Wars Shall Cease!”(Zec.9:9-10).
Dear LORD, I wake up with confidence that you will do for me today what you promised you will do!
These days, it is difficult to distinguish between truth and subterfuge because AI presents fiction as reality. Otherwise, I don’t know how true this is: I watched a video clip where someone was presenting and boasting of the military might of China. He says that despite the military prowess of China, China won’t fire the first shot, but China won’t allow you to fire the second shot.
In practice, international politics leans more towards a “winner takes it all.” This does not, of course, eliminate concessions by international bodies created with the intention of enhancing fair treatment by providing checks and balances so that losers should benefit something more than crumbs.
There is nothing new. The big fishes have always swallowed the small ones.
The coming of Jesus into the world is to break the “domination system” where the winner takes it all. His coming is to level the ground so that everybody created in the image of God should actually become a reflection of that image. Some should not be less than humans as if they, too, are not created in the image of God!
Wars, be it hot or cold, have been an established way by which nations demonstrate their power of dominance. Their military prowess is by the display of war implements at their disposal.
Therefore, for wars to cease, to put an end to the domination system, the weapons of war should be destroyed. When this happens, weak nations that were suffocating under the yoke of the domination system can be able to breathe in an air of relief.
The coming of Jesus brings hope and confidence to the subjugated as he comes to destroy the weapons of war and ushers in God’s peace that surpasses human understanding!
His coming is a fulfilment of a long ago prophecy which fits him in every way: “Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the warhorses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.”
Our prayer is to let the peace of God, which passes human understanding, keep our hearts and minds in the knowledge of God and his Son Jesus Christ. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed working day and week! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas!
