Text: I Tim.1:12-17.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Theme: “A Testimony Of God’s Grace!”
Recently, news organs have been awash with the iconic gift of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to President Trump. The gift is a framed copy of President Trump’s grandfather’s birth certificate, who was a German immigrant… This gift is viral news in the wake of the president’s clamp down policy on (un)lawful immigrants.
The gift is a satirical reminder that while trying to carve a niche to suit our present, we must not forget the past – to say the least, we must not distort the past to suit our present interests.
In a nutshell, to fully appreciate who, what, and where we are, we must be informed of who, what, and where we were.
A testimony of God’s grace is one such appreciation of our present in the light of our past. Who were you before you encountered the Lord Jesus Christ. How has this encounter shaped your present? How are you using your experience as a testimony of God’s grace through which you bring others to Christ?
My friend, in our pilgrim’s progress, God in Christ takes us as we are – with our disrelations. When God in Christ takes us as we are, he does not intend to leave us as we are. He takes us to make us what he wants us to become.
Yes; this is our pilgrim’s progress in the context of “the pilgrim principle.” It is our journey in faith! In this journey of faith, God in Christ keeps turning the many turnings of each life until we gain fulness in Christ Jesus our Lord.
A testimony of God’s grace is to rejoice that the Lord has brought us thus far. However, we keep on pressing towards the goal until we gain the heavenly crown.
My friend, may Paul’s testimony of God’s grace in this text help you shape your own testimony of God’s grace!
Weekend prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for saving me the worst of sinners. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
