“A Prayer For Those Who Partner In The Gospel!”(Phi.1:1-11).
It’s another day of grace, and we do not take it for granted. For a new day, we thank you, O Lord.
In a letter to believers at Philippi, including overseers and deacons, Paul offers a thanksgiving prayer for them. Paul expresses joy for the Philippian brethren not only because of their reception of the gospel but also about their active support of his ministry – partnership.
Times have changed, and with it changes of approach to ministry. If a minister who has left a congregation writes a letter to the congregation, it would be misinterpreted as nostalgia. They would say the minister is longing for the flesh pots of Egypt.
Thank God that social media has actually facilitated the global village concept of the world. That is why every morning, meditations and scriptural quotations are crisscrossing the world, made available by a mere click of a “post button” or a click on the “open button.”
From the day the Philippians first received the gospel, they held on to it. Practically, they entered into a partnership to support Paul and his colleagues in the work of spreading the gospel.
We do appreciate those good people who occasionally support us with airtime and other gadgets to help us continue the ministry of the word through social media. Thank you very much. We do not take it for granted.
Paul’s Thanksgiving prayer is ours for you too: “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ…that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory of God.”
Real love is like a plant requiring intentional nurturing to growth and maturation.
God’s good work is not only the good work for us by forgiving us but also the good work he has done in us.
Believers have to approve and practice what is morally and ethically superior. Our goal “in this life is to be without any mixture of evil and not open to censure because of moral or spiritual failure.” This will be to the glory of God.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, bless all who partner with us in the gospel. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
