“A Choice Between Blessing And Bane!”(Is.66:22-24)
“As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the Lord. “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”
Dearly beloved, we are on the first Sunday of the 8th month of 2025. How time flies! Time flies with the speed of light and does not wait for anyone. Yet time gives opportunity for everybody so that anyone who aligns with him can move along with him to a meaningful end.
We don’t have to flood social media space with all kinds of messages celebrating time’s fleetingness.
Some of our new month celebrative messages are read when time has already sped by. As time speeds by, God initiates new things. When new things are initiated, old things have to pass away.
We keep running in circles in restlessness and vain glory until we find rest where we first began – forsaking all the vain glories for the sake of Christ.
Each new day comes with fresh promises and opportunities that allow free entrance into the benefits of God’s amazing grace reserved for those who make conscious efforts to avoid presumptuous sin.
You are in the new heavens and new earth when you know that you are the temple of the Lord, reserved to glorify him so as to escape his wrath!
Sunday prayer: Holy Spirit, guide my steps away from the things and places that provoke the wrath of God. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
