“Encourage One Another For The Coming Of The Lord!”
What we know about the coming of the Lord makes us different from those who are ignorant of this truth. This truth distinguishes us as children of light. We are not going to fall under the wrath of God, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive, we may live together with him.
We should no longer live like those in the days of Noah who were making a mockery of him when he was building the ark. The truth dawned on them when it was already too late.
So how do we prepare ourselves? We have “to be alert and self-controlled…putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.”
Yes, “alertness, self-controll, faith and love and the hope of salvation ” are our military gears. With these spiritual military gears you are protected against the weapons of the enemy. Life in union with Christ, whether now or in the life to come becomes an assurance.
Knowing this, the best we can do is to “encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing”(I Th.5:5-11) for the coming of the Lord.
Prayer: Holy Spirit strengthen us to live as children of light, encouraging one another as we await the coming of the Lord. Amen!
