“Jesus Christ Is For Everybody!”
There’s a Christian pun: “please can you shift so that I too can have a view of the Lord?” Have you ever been in an occasion where the person sitting in front of you is taller? You keep making frantic efforts to see what is going on at the front. It can be irritating and frustrating.
It is said that the king’s dog is the king of dogs” and there are many such human dogs who try to prove their importance to the rest of the dogs. It is true that it was the camel carrying Jesus that had the privilege of walking on top of the palmfronds and dresses that were laid on the road for Jesus.
Nobody whatsoever should block the way for people to see Jesus Christ. Sometimes enforced doctrines become a hindrance, blocking access to Christ.
Overzealous disciples blocked little children who were being brought to Jesus for him to touch them. When Jesus noticed this he asked them to allow the children come to him.
Jesus then taught them that the kingdom of God is for those who are childlike in nature (Lk.18:15-17). Who you are, what you are and where you come from does not matter. Christ is the melting pot of all existing barriers that made some people superior to others. We are all children of God through faith in Christ. “For as many …as were baptized in Christ have put on Christ.” Once we are in Christ, we have become “heirs according to the promise” (Gal.3:26-29).
My friend, in Christ Jesus no-one is superior to the other. It is left to you and I to make an inward search and ask whether the things we say and do, our behaviour and attitude towards others help to bring them to Christ or it rather drives them away!
Prayer: Lord teach me so that my character, behaviour, attitude, actions and language do not block others from inheriting the kingdom of God. Amen!
Happy and blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
