“Bridging The Gap Between Hearing And Doing!”(Lk.6:43-49).
Heavenly Father, thank you for the best Valentine gift ever – the Lord Jesus Christ!
There is a widely circulated story about Madiba Mandela and Mr. Peters who hated Mandela when Mandela was in law school. One day, Mr Peters asked Mandela,
“Mr. Mandela, if you were walking down the street and found a package, and within was a bag of wisdom and another bag with money, which one would you take?”
Without hesitating, Mandela responded, “The one with the money, of course.”
Mr. Peters, smiling sarcastically said,
“I, in your place, would have taken the wisdom.”
Nelson Mandela shrugged and responded, ”Each one takes what he doesn’t have.”
Assuming that Mr Peters had asked, “Mr Mandela, if you were asked to give out wisdom or money, what would you give?” Mandela would have said, “Wisdom, of course! Each one gives what he has!”
Conversion to Christ is not just about making a U-turn; it is more about replacement. In majority cases, conversion to Christ is a process; it is not aorist. Weeding your garden begins with one bed until the whole garden is done.
Rome was not built in a day, so too we do automatically become transformed in one day.
We may be Christians for such a long time before we become “born again.” This is the moment when all the weed have been weeded out, and Christ in me has become the sole occupier of the heart.
Bad character is like pregnancy, hidden at the early stages but eventually revealed. When we call Jesus “Lord, Lord” without doing what he says, it is because our gardens(hearts) are still full of weeds(evil). Christ is not occupying the room alone; he is still searching for a seat, and we do not want to grant him full access!
When the Lord Jesus Christ fully occupies the house, he becomes the solid rock on which a convert stands. And no storms can prevail against anyone standing on such a solid rock!
My friend, when we come to Christ and hear his words and do what he says, we become unshakeable. Only then can we spread the radiance of the Lord through open doors, love, kindness, generosity, and concern.
Where Christ dwells love increases and evil diminishes! Let the evidence of what is in us be seen in what we offer in the name of the Lord.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit, make me wise as I hear the words of the Lord and do what he says. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you! Happy Vals Day!💘
