“The Reign Of The Prince Of Peace!”(Is.9:2-7).
For a new day, I thank you, LORD!
The theme of the day was, “A time when wars shall cease,” drawn from Zechariah 9:9-10.
A learned Esquire asked in a WhatsApp forum, “Is there going to be a time when wars shall cease? I can’t wait to see that day.”
It is a question that is on the lips of many of us; a question that can be considered to be perennial.
A world without war is possible. Whenever and wherever there is war, it is a pointer that the people walking in darkness have not seen the great light.
A decision of nonretaliation ends any war as soon as it is started. Any leadership that establishes and upholds justice and righteousness has no reason to take up arms.
The end to war is nonviolence and non-retaliation. That’s why it was prophesied that the Messiah will be called Prince of Peace.
He teaches us that when slapped on one check, turn the other cheek to the slapper. If they take your outer garment, surrender the inner one.
In whatever context of provocation, do not allow the enemy to dictate the weapons of combat. Do not fight the enemy on his terms.
An eye for an eye does not only make half the world go blind. An eye for an eye eventually blinds the whole world!
When you master the skills of dodging the punches of your adversary, you eventually come out victorious without giving a single punch. We do not need Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” to know that you can win without fighting. The Prince of Peace already bequeathed that legacy to us.
Isaiah says in the reign of the Prince of Peace, “every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.”
The reign of the Prince of Peace is liberation for both the oppressed and the oppressor as the yoke that burdens the oppressed, the bar across their shoulders, and the rod of the oppressor are shattered.
My friend, the truth of life is that whether the winner takes it all, whether he leaves the crumbs with the vanquished, it actually makes no difference. No matter how expensive or cheap is the delicacy they all pass out as pheases; and no matter how expensive or cheap is the wine, all comes our as urine.
The reasons for any kind of war are as stupid and meaningless as the reason for the war between the people of Lilliput and Blefuscu.
If we live by Christ’s golden rule, non-violence and nonretaliation, establishing and upholding justice and righteousness, we will enjoy the peace that surpasses human understanding.
Consider these four principles of nonviolence: “Nonviolence seeks to win friendship and understanding. Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice, not people. Nonviolence holds that suffering can educate and transform. Nonviolence chooses love instead of hate.”
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit, give us enlightenment so that we can enjoy the reign of the Prince of Peace. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed working day and week!
Merry Christmas and a fulfilling New Year in advance! Peace be with you!
