Text: Mt.28:16-20.
” Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'”

Theme: “Executing The Great Commission!”
The missionary enterprise to Africa was a genuine response to the Great Commission of discipling the nations. Thanks to those missionaries who risked their lives to bring the good news to us.
Making disciples is the responsibility of those who have been called to spread the good news.
This is a commission primarily to those of the apostolic succession. But it is a commission to all believers as each believer has the responsibility of talking to at least one person about Christ.
There is a shifting paradigm to mission. The mission field is no longer unmissionized geographical locations.
Mission is Missio Dei – God’s Mission: “As my Father sent me, so I send you…”
The new mission field is to identify what God wants to do in the world; where he wants to do it, and do it for him.
Discipling the nations is about gospelising the nations, but it is also about making disciples of individuals who constitute a nation.
Baptising people is an uncompleted mission. Making disciples is completed by teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded.
Corruption, greed, avarice, injustice, oppression, suppression, tyrannical despotism, tribalism, nepotism, Godfatherism, the culture of silencing dissent and implanting fear into the majority, deadened consciences and the collapse of moral values have become an acceptable way of life. These vices are inimical to the teachings of Christ.
Being comfortable in vices that Christ abhorred are indicators that we have not adequately fulfilled the Great Commission.
The question is, “What have we taught?” On the other hand, “What did they hear?”
The unintended consequences arise from the above two questions.
If we continue to go to equity without clean hands, then we are blind people confidently leading other blind people on a path we never passed through. The destination can only be mayhem!
Dear friend, the Lord Jesus Christ knows how risky the mission is. He knows that we can easily be intimidated by fear. That is why he assures, “And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
This assurance of his presence is to remind us that the mission is not ours. It is God’s mission, which by the authority given to the Son, the Son has commissioned us to continue.
May the assurance of Christ’s continual presence spur us to be forerunners of social and political transformation and spiritual revival, which begins with transforming and reviving self!
Prayer: Lord, equip us with discerning spirits that help us to identify and missionize the mission fields by us. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
