“Nerve Again…!”(Rev.7:9-17).
Maybe you, like myself, are one of those who was frightened when you read the Book of Revelations for the first time. You were scared of its scary imageries and the horrors of endtime. Rightfully so, fear and trembling enable us to comport before approaching the throne of God.
John, the author, was exiled to the island of Patmos for his activities as a missionary of the gospel. During this time, Roman authorities were beginning to enforce emperor worship. Christians who held that Christ is Lord, not Caesar is Lord were facing great hostility and persecution. John was among those who were exiled to the island of Patmos.
According to the author, he was in the Spurit on the Lord’s Day when a voice asked him to write what he sees abd send to the seven churches(1:9-20).
The text for reflection is one of those passages in the book that gives assurance of the timeless truth that good always triumphs over evil. It encourages Christians who face persecution not to give up on God. It rekindles the hope that tough times never last, but tough people do.
Satan may increase his persecution of believers, but they must stand firm, even to death.
At the end time, the overcomers will stand before the throne of God and the Lamb dressed in white robes that have been made white by the blood of Lamb.
At that time, our only responsibility will be to serve God day and night in his temple, and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. Never again will we hunger; never again will we thirst…For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be our shepherd; he will lead us to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear.
So my friend, stand firm in the Lord and for the Lord! Let no hardship or tough times slacken your faith! The days of rejoicing are close at hand. Cheer up!
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit, encourage us to remain steadfast in the Lord in rough and tough times just as in smooth and soft times. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
