“In God’s Plan 2!”(Rom.5:15-17)[22/11/24].
We continue to read from Romans 5:15-17 according to the church’s lectionary. From my point of view these few verses fall among those writings of Paul which Peter writes, “…His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort…”(II Pt.3:16).
Dora Greenwell echoes this in a different way with this song, “I am not skilled to understand what God had willed what God had planned. I only know at his right hand stands one who is my Savior. There are somethings that we cannot fully understand.
Yesterday we said Jesus came down to fix what Satan had destroyed. The result of one man’s sin is that “judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation” to many. Jesus Christ who is God’s provision of grace and the gift of righteousness “followed many trespasses and brought justification.”
Herein lies the difference between the first Adam and the second Adam. The first Adam caused the condemnation of all, but the second Adam for the sake of the sin of all has brought justification.
The benefit of this is that those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness” will reign in life through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Question is, “Have you received God’s abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness?” Note that our readings are leading us into the season of Advent which culminates in Christmas. Our preparation is to fix our eyes on things above.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit guide us away from presumptuous sins so that we can be beneficiaries of God’s abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
