“God Has Given Us Victory…!”(I Cor.15:50-58).
The resurrection story seems not to have been convincing to the Corinthian believers. In chapter 15 with 58 verses, Paul raises a series of arguments to convince the Corinthians and us that the resurrection of Christ happened and so too will be ours.
In his final argument about the resurrection he states that “God’s redeemed people must have newly organized imperishable bodies to live with him…” Flesh and blood represents the perishable, corrupt, weak and sinful state of humanity.
At the sound of the final trumpet “the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” Once we are clothed with the imperishable and immortality, the Scriptures will be fulfilled that says, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?” Oh yes; on that day death will die!
“The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.” In Eden it was the violation of the law, “do not touch, do not eat” that brought sin and with it death.“But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
And just as Paul advises, “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.” We will continue to enjoy our gain in eternity!
Prayer: Thank you LORD for giving us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
