“God Can Bless Anybody!”(Is,45:1-8).
It’s another day, it’s another week, and God in his mercy has still blessed us with life. We do not take this for granted, so we say, “Thank you LORD.”
I listened to the preaching of a catechism many years ago. He is of late. May his soul rest in peace. In his sermon he said people prefer to go to juju houses than to God’s house. Ironically when any such person stubs his toe against a stone , the one will say, “If not of God my toe would have been destroyed.” He wondered why they do not say, “If not of juju my toe would have been destroyed!”
Whether we like it or not, there is a God! The City Mayor of Bamenda City Council wrote on a stall at the Governor’s junction, “Tell the fool that there is a God.” I don’t know what happened, but he has removed “Tell the fool that.” For me I loved what he wrote because he was satirically responding to what the psalmist says, “The fool says in his heart that there Is no God.”
Cyrus was a foreign king, but he was God’s anointed. God can use anybody anytime to achieve his purpose here on earth. It is neither by might nor strength, it is simply by God’s Spirit that we are what we are. We may not even be among the Christians but when God decides, we become his own.
In the same way that he opened the doors of great opportunity to Cyrus, so too he can do for you; just so that you may know that he is the LORD.
To every unbeliever, atheist and believer God says, “I am the LORD, there is no other, apart from me there is no God…” He does the things which he does, “so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know that there is none besides me. I am the LORD, there is no other…”
At the right time he brought salvation to humanity through his Son. From the rising of the sun to its setting down let us acknowledge the LORD and walk in his ways. He will do what he says he will do.
Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for anointing us and using us for your purpose, even when we do not acknowledge you. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
