“Let Your Wisdom Be Proved Right By Action!”(Mt.11:16-21).
Yesterday we centred the meditation on the key to conduct question which new converts ask, “What should we do?”
Today let us focus on the question, “What do people really want?”
The Lord Jesus Christ wondered about the people of his time. John the Baptist “came neither eating nor drinking, and they say , ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘He is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.'”
So what do people really want? This question is directed to the unrepentant. Such people look for excuses to reject the gospel. Instead of focusing on the message, they focus on the messengers.
The quality of a container has nothing to do with the content. God can use an earthen container to carry a pearl of immeasurable value, in the same way that he can use a golden or diamond container to carry the same priceless pearl.
When we focus on assessing the messengers, we loss focus on the message they carry. The lives of those who stand tall in the Bible are full of flaws, but God used them for his purpose. God does not need perfect people to use for his purpose. He takes imperfect people, knowing that as they journey in faith, they will gradually grow in perfection.
The criticism against messengers of the gospel is worst today than ever. Once you drink they give you the same tag that was given to our Lord – a drunkard! There is a difference between drinking and being a drunkard. The Lord Jesus Christ drank, but he did not deserve the tag of drunkard. He ate with people, but that did not make him a glutton.
When you mix with a certain category of people, they call you a sinner! If we tag some people sinners and keep them at bay, how then are we going to make them see the light of the gospel?
Besides, those of us who have been washed in the blood of the lamb still have little spots that have to be scrubbed off. The message is for us too.
Dear friend, “Today if you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts before him.” The Lord Jesus Christ says, “Wisdom is proved right by her actions.” Therefore, as we await the coming of the Lord, let your wisdom be proved right by your actions. Actions that bear fruit worthy of repentance!
Holy Spirit help me not to harden my heart against God’s word. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
