“The Lord Jesus Christ Will Not Ignore Your Cry For Mercy!”(Lk.18:35-43).
A blind man who was begging by the roadside heard that Jesus was passing by. He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” He was rebuked and asked to be queit by “those who led the way. But he shouted his request the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Jesus could, and still does not ignore such a cry for mercy.
Jesus could see that the man was blind, but he asked him all the same, “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus’ question is important because it could be that this man wanted Jesus to give him alms. The man himself recognized in Jesus someone who could give him more than alms. In his heart he knew that Jesus could give him much more than alms. He was convinced that Jesus had the power to make him see. In response to Jesus’ question he replied, “Lord, I want to see.”
“Jesus said to him, ‘Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.'”
Sometimes some Christians both physical or online make prayer requests, but want that you must ask for the prayer topic. When we approach the throne of grace we must have clarity of mind concerning what we want the Lord to do to, or for us.
Like we said the other day, the Lord Jesus Christ does not have a fixed pattern in the way he handles our problems.
This blind man refused to cave in to the rebuke of those who led the way. Their rebuke did not deter him because he knew what he wanted from the Lord. And he had faith that the Lord will do it for him.
These people who lead the way are among the arrogant overzealous henchmen! Such are the dogs who consider that since they are the king’s dogs, they are the kings of dogs. If you listen to them, you will remain in your situation while Jesus passes by.
That notwithstanding, the crowd can be helpful too. The blind man would not have known that the Lord was passing by if they had not told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” But they wouldn’t have told him if he had not asked to know what was happening!
Some lessons: 1. Be curious to know what is happening around you. 2. Bring your petitions to the Lord with requests of mercy. 3. With faith ask the Lord to deal with your specific need. 4. Ignore the rebukes of those who want to stifle your cry for help. 5. Above all, when you have received from the Lord Jesus Christ, follow him praising God and all the people who see what has happened will join you in praising God!
Prayer: I praise you LORD that through the Lord Jesus Christ you hear my cry for mecry and respond to my specific needs. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you! Rev Babila Fochang.
