“Don’t Be Afraid; Just Believe!”(Mk.5:35-43).
Jarius a synagogue ruler came and fell at the feet of Jesus and pleaded earnestly that Jesus should accompany him to his home and lay hands on his sick daughter so that she could get well. While still on their way some men from Jarius’ home came to tell him not to bother the teacher anymore because her daughter was already dead.
Jesus ignored what they said and told Jarius, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” So saying he continued to Jarius’ home only to see a commotion and loud wailing. Jesus told them that there was no need for the commotion and mourning because the child was not dead but asleep.“But they laughed at him.”
Our faith convictions and our determination leads us to fall at the feet of Christ to make our requests and intercessions for others. We are not put right with Christ only by our own faith. Sometimes we are helpless and only the faith of others can remedy our situation. The Lord says he will not cast out anyone who comes to him.
Once we are with the Lord we should give a deaf ear to those who may try to derail us – as if they were doing us good – telling us not to bother the teacher!
Glory be to God that whenever we have such joykillers by our side, the silent voice of the Lord whispers to us, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
Jesus finally commanded the little girl to get up, which she did.
The assurances we receive from the Lord sometimes seems not to make any sense to the rest of the people. They just laugh in the same way the people laughed at Noah when he was building the ship in preparation for the flood. We learn from Jesus to ignore their laughter and just go on with what we are wont to do.
My friend, what is that dead situation that needs the attention of the Lord? Bring it to his feet. When you are distracted, the Lord is your encourager whispering, “Don’t be afraid; just believe!”
The Lord will speak life to any death situation in your life; to the complete astonishment of those who thought it is over with you! It is not over until the Lord says it is over! Keep the faith and the Lord will speak life to your vicissitudes.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, just as you have told me, I am not afraid; I believe. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
