“Preach The Good News Of The Kingdom Of God!”(Lk.9:38-44).
“At daybreak Jesus went to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, ‘I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.’ And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.”
Jesus had just healed many people severally of various kinds of diseases by laying his hands on each one. Demons came out of many shouting, “You are the Son of God!”
It is interesting that even demons testify that Jesus is the Son of God. More interesting is that Jesus rebukes them and would not want them to speak because he knows that they know that he is the Christ.
Sometimes we Christians waste precious time fighting demons instead of spending time fruitfully, glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ who is acknowledged by the demons to be the Son of God. Demons are already fallen! At the mention of the name of Jesus every knee must bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. This includes the demons!
As the devil roams like a roaring lion looking for whom to devour, he preys on our weakest weaknesses – fear. He causes us to fear him when we ought to ignore him because Christ is in us.
The people came looking for Jesus and wanted to cause him to remain with them so that they will have exclusive ownership of him as a physician, doctor, healer and miracle worker.
Jesus made them to understand that as important as physical healing is, his mission was to preach the good news of the kingdom of God to other people too.
By the way, the healing components of the gospel cannot be underestimated. Good news, which is – truth, righteousness, kindness, love, justice, compassion, … – heals and brings joy to the heart.
Physical healing is skindeep and brings only temporary relief. But the good news heals body, mind and soul.
Today a lot of people frantically crisscross the globe looking for Jesus. Questions to ponder upon: “Why are you looking for him? Are you in search of physical or spiritual healing? If you are in search of physical healing then you are free to roam the world, but if you are in search of spiritual healing, then stay where you are, and let the good news about the kingdom of God will be preached to you where you are.
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit guide my intentions so that I should seek the Lord Jesus Christ with right motives. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
