“Wisdom(Christ) Is Better Than Strength!”(Eccl.9:13-18).
Here bellow was a one-time commonplace essay and debate topic: “The pen is mightier than the sword. Discuss!” The pen can be neutral since a warped up mind can still use the pen to pen down strategies to start a war.
The wise preacher says “Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.” The wisdom of a poor wise man saved a small city from a powerful king who came against the city, surrounded it and built huge siegeworks against it.
Ironically, when the exploits of victory were recounted in later days, “Nobody remembered that poor man” That of course does not cancel the fact that “Wisdom is better than strengthen.”
It is common knowledge that the poor are despised even if they are wise enough to save a city. But human wisdom as a whole is limited. We shouldn’t place high hopes on wisdom. Over time its reputation fades and its good is soon undone. Besides, human wisdom has no answers to death.
By the way, at the end there is no difference between the fool and the wise. The fate of the fool will overtake the wise also. “The wise man, like the fool, will not be remembered; in the days to come both will be forgotten. Like the fool, the wise man too must die!”-(Eccl.2:15-16).
Therefore my friend, “remember your Creator in the days of your youth…” and “fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man…”(Eccl.12:1&13-14).
May we remind ourselves of Paul’s words that the mystery of God which we should know is “Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”(Col.2:2-3).
Let us build our hopes on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness for he alone is the Wisdom Of God. Human wisdom is among all the other ground that is sinking sand!
Prayer of the week: Lord Jesus Christ let my wisdom be to know you more and the power of your resurrection. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
