“Go And Search For The Lost Sheep!”(Lk.15:1-10).
A shepherd of a hundred sheep who considers that it is inconsequential to leave the 99 sheep and go in search of one lost sheep risks losing the whole flock. As the saying goes, “A bundle of bamboo got finished because they kept removing a single bamboo.”
Only a careless shepherd ignores checking on the missing sheep. If today you ignore going to search for one missing sheep, you will be left with 99. On the following day, if you still ignore to go after another sheep, you will have 98. If this continues, you risk losing the whole flock.
The reason for the gospel is the search for lost souls and to care for them. Any other reason advanced as reason for gospel is only complementary to the search and care of lost souls.
Unfortunately, as it was in the days of old, just as it is now, when tax collectors and sinners gather to hear Jesus, the Pharisees and teachers of the law are there muttering,“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them”
Any sinner who is eager to hear the gospel is a potential convert.
Of such repented sinners our Lord Jesus Christ says, “…there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 persons who do not need to repent…there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
This is the central reason for the gospel. Anything short of this is a different gospel.
We are saved to save others.
Each one of us has an obligation to cause ourselves and others to repentance.
Let us go out and search for the lost sheep and bring them back into the fold. All lives matter to God!
Prayer: Holy Spirit ignite the fire of evangelism to burn in me as I go in search of the lost sheep. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
