“Take Heart…Your Sins Are Forgiven!”(Mt.9:1-8).
One day, during my school days in Ghana, we entered into an interesting discussion on African politics. Some of us non Ghanaians talked positively of Nkwame Krumah’s contribution to the independence of Ghana from colonial bondage.
Surprisingly our Ghanaian colleagues did not share our views. They said Nkrumah did quite much for Ghana, but he later spoiled everything by planting spies everywhere to the point where children were encouraged to report against their parents if they spoke against the government! People could no longer express themselves freely ‘ even in their own homes.
This kind of spy system is what we are experiencing in some African churches today. And it is very disturbing to witness this in the body of Christ. In some denominations spies are placed in all congregations and even the clergies are encouraged to report against each other. The more you report on suspected “opposition,” the chances of promotion.
In his time the teachers of the law and Pharisees were such spies against Jesus. Even in his hometown they were there!
Every move that Jesus made and every action that he undertook was under scrutiny of these unpaid for overzealous henchmen in the spy network of religious hypocrites.
In his hometown Jesus saw the faith of the people who brought a paralytic to him, and he told the paralytic “Take heart, son, your sins are forgiven.” The spies saw this as blasphemy! Jesus challenged their hypocritical religious zeal by telling the man, “Get up and take your mat and go home.”
My dear friend, Jesus Christ is always available to tell those who have faith,“Take heart son/daughter, your sins are forgiven.” And whenever sins are forgiven, healing and restoration takes place.
Come to Jesus Christ as you are and he will forgive your sins and use you to the glory of the Most High God.
Prayer of the week: Lord Jesus Christ forgive my sins and heal me of any kind of infirmity. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
