“God’s Hidden Wisdom Revealed Through The Spirit!”(I Cor.2:6-10).
There is need to sesrch or research that which is hidden. Therefore, let us begin by defining the words, search and research.
Search is to “try to find something by looking or otherwise seeking carefully and thoroughly.” Meanwhile research is “the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.
Both terms apply to how we approach the Scriptures. We “search” the Scriptures and we also research the scriptures. We may say that we search the scriptures for spiritual fulfilment, but that is not true. Jesus told the Jews who tried to kill him, “You diligently study (search) the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life”(Jn.5:39).
The Bereans are a good example of the importance of scriptural research. “…they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true”(Acts 17:11).
The wise man said “it is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out the matter”(Prv.25:2). The psalmist say, “Great are the works of the LORD; they are studied by all who delight in them”(Ps.111:2).
Paul advised the Thessalonians to “test (examine) everything” then “hold on to the good”(I Thes.5:21).
These passages are indicative of the need for search and research in a bid to gain new knowledge/wisdom from the Scriptures. But this new knowledge/wisdom is not new. It is “God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.” Nothing is new!
Those who do not understand this crucified the Lord and in today’s world they deride and snub his followers.
All of humanity have neither seen, heard nor “conceived what God has prepared for those who love him – but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”
Oh yes; without the guidance of the Spirit our search and research cannot lead us to Christ. Let us like the Bereans examine the Scriptures every day to see if what our preachers say is true. Read the Bible daily with the guidance of the Holy Spirit so as to remain in Christ who is our Wisdom from God.
Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me into the deep things of God so that I may gain wisdom from the Lord of glory. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
